Welcome to the sixth episode of my Teach The Teacher 2.0 Meditation Course. It’s designed to help you make your prayer sessions with God more educational by teaching yourself to discern, learn, and have direct conversations with Him for every facet and season of your life.
In Scripture, the concept of being spiritually dead or asleep is often used as a metaphor to describe a state of disconnection from one’s spiritual self and God.
In this unconscious state, the sobering truth is that what the Bible refers to as “the natural man” believes itself to be spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:14). This is often the result of exposure to only human indoctrination about God and Scripture, rather than direct revelation and instruction from God Himself. Paul experienced this state before his conversion, but his spirit was eventually awakened, enabling him to hear God’s voice, encouragement, guidance, and instruction.
In this episode, we’ll take a deep dive into the word “awake,” which Paul uses in Ephesians 5:14 and 1 Corinthians 15:34 to describe his former spiritual “natural man” condition as “asleep” and “dead.” We’ll also explore how this connects to the word “awakens” in the prophetic passage about Jesus’ prayer life in Isaiah 50:4.
