In Matthew 13:45-46 Jesus stated “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it”. Here we see a man that discovers something of value and goes out and sells all that he has in order to attain it, yet let’s look at a deeper meaning to this vital scripture that came from the mouth of Jesus which is the Son of God who only spoke what he heard His Father speak.
A pearl gets it beginning from a grain of sand that a mussel, oyster or clam takes within itself and begins the process of forming a pearl by forming layers of what is called nacre through pressure. This same process applies to the pearls of God’s word which originate in heaven yet start off like a seed much like a grain of sand that has to be processed in order to produce something of value. A seed has to have the pressure of the earth applied to it in order for it break open and begin the process of life. Man was originally made from the dust of the ground from the earth and like natural pressure in the earth that is needed to be applied to a natural seed, spiritual pressure has to be applied to the word seed that God gives man in order for it to produce the principle that God desires to birth and sustain life so that order is present.
The highest form of learning is Christ. In John 14:26 Jesus said “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you”. The Holy Spirit is the pressure within man that takes the seed of the Father’s word and produces life in order for proper and original intended knowledge to be understood and applied which results in the wisdom of God to be manifested in one’s life.
We see this internal process functioning in Jesus. The prophetic scripture In Isaiah 11:2-3 about Jesus gives us some insight, it states “And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him--the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord-- And shall make Him of quick understanding, and His delight shall be in the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord. And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, neither decide by the hearing of His ears”; (AMP). We see that his life was not navigated from what He naturally saw and heard from the pressure of this world but by the Spirit within Him from another place (the kingdom of heaven).
The seed that He used to produce life was called “truth”. Truth is defined as what is stable, sure, firm, certain and faithful. Truth is original information. Original knowledge is the word seed that is needed to produce Godly wisdom. God is the Father of truth (John 15:26). Knowledge from any other source has the potential to have contaminated information that will keep one from experiencing the life that God originally intended for us to live. Truth is the seed that we must take within ourselves and allow the Holy Spirit to put pressure on that word to layer it with the value and meaning that God originally intended for it to have.
The quality of a natural pearl is produced by the environment that the mussel, oyster and clam finds itself in which determines what type of grain of sand that it applies pressure to in order to produce a pearl. A pearl of great price in the Kingdom of God has to get it’s grain of a word seed from the environment of Heaven and it must give the Holy Spirit complete unhindered liberty that is absent from this worlds pressures in order for one to sell all that they have in order to obtain what is original and of great value. May we not just seek goodly pearls that come from this earth may we seek Godly pearls that come from heaven.
